Announcements from Jesse & Rob

Hey Everyone!
NecronomiCon Providence 2022 is lookin’ AMAZING!!!!
We have so much already planned out for you all I’m getting extra excited for August!

Returning to our Gaming Area is the group that brought you La Fe Verte in 2015 and The King in Yellow in 2019, Strange Parlor 2019, Strange Parlor Productions with their newest tale of horror Red Scare!

Strange Parlor Productions presents: The Red Scare, a Theater-style (no live combat) Live Action Roleplaying Game (LARP) of horror, intrigue, and weird science. The game takes place on June 22, 1948, at an underground bar in French-occupied Berlin, as tensions between the former Allies come to a head. Soviet troops mass at the Berlin checkpoints, while the RAF quietly activates secret contingencies. The Americans deploy strategic atomic forces, as French security launch a manhunt in their own sector. But is the current political impasse just over a currency dispute? Or is there some darker reason, as each of the occupying nations seeks new weapons for the coming cold war, rooted in forbidden and unspeakable secrets? This is a meeting place for spies, soldiers, criminals and diplomats working behind the scenes. But tonight, the bar also hosts a curious assortment of scientists and celebrities. Set against the start of the Berlin Blockade, and a looming Mythos cataclysm, each character has their own personal motivations and story to be told

Extra Life will also be joining us again this year to kill your characters for charity!
All proceeds from all games during this event will be going toward the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Come in and try not to die while sabotaging the rest of your party or those at other tables ’cause it’s for a good cause! We’ll also be holding another raffle for some awesome items to also benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  If you or anyone you know are interested in donating an item or items to raffle please contact us at [email protected] Subject: Extra Life Raffle.

Upcoming Dates to Remember:
-May 1st: Gaming submissions open.
-July 18th: Player Registration goes live.
-August 18th-20th: NecronomiCon Providence

We are looking for anyone and everyone who is interested in running something for us this year! Guidelines for running games at this convention are:
Tabletop RPGs: If you are not running something like Call of Cthulhu, you need to at least incorporate some kind of horror element into your module.
Board Games: It’s preferable that the game you will run guided play for has a horror element to it. Contact us at [email protected] if you are unsure if something you’d like to run would fit.
Comp Badges: If you provide 12+ hours of content to the convention we will ensure you either have a complimentary badge or will reimburse you for a general admission weekend badge.

In the Meantime…

Feel free to continue to message us at [email protected] with any gaming suggestions or questions.

Send the word to your friends, enemies, frenemies, etc., that we’re looking for anyone willing to run games!

Have anyone interested follow our Facebook page, click on the “More” button and sign up for our Keeper mailing list.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you all and especially to being able to see you all this August in the flesh!

Ia! Ia! Cthulhu f’taghn!

Jesse & Rob

GAMING AREA UPDATE 28 July 2022 :

Strange Parlor Productions are back with their newest event “The Red Scare”, a Theater-style (no live combat) Live Action Roleplaying Game (LARP) of horror, intrigue, and weird science. This is a meeting place for spies, soldiers, criminals, and diplomats working behind the scenes. But tonight, the bar also hosts a curious assortment of scientists and celebrities. Set against the start of the Berlin Blockade, and a looming Mythos cataclysm, each character has their own personal motivations and story to be told. Characters are pre-generated. NOTE: While the background of this game includes the real-world horrors of WWII, those horrors are part of the game’s history, not its current conflicts. No characters in this game are, or ever have been Nazis. The game includes themes of weird science, madness, betrayal, identity crisis, international conflict, sacrifice, and maybe a bit of romance. This game does not include themes of racism.

Red Scare is running Friday Evening (August 19th) from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.  and  Sunday Morning (August 21st) from 11:– A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sign up through https://tabletop.events/conventions/necronomicon-providence-gaming-2022

Extra Life is back and better than ever at the Providence Graduate’s Poindexter Cafe! Join us on Friday the 19th of August while we raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by playing games, killing characters, and spreading madness!

All proceeds go directly to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals where they help kids and their families who are going through hard and scary times.

Extra Life Raffle is also back! Raffle items will be on display from Friday afternoon (August 19th) through Sunday morning (August 21st). The drawing will occur on Sunday at 11:00 A.M. on the Providence Graduate’s 18th floor.

Raffle tickets are $1 for 1 Ticket, $5 for 6 Tickets, and $20 for 25 Tickets. All proceeds go directly to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals! We are also accepting any outside donations to this wonderful cause. If you are willing to donate and do not want to participate in either the raffle or the Extra Life game please see either Jesse Gorton or Rob Zannini for more information.

Virtual gaming will occur on our community Discord. There are private rooms that are moderated so only the GM/Keeper, participants and room mods can enter. There is no notification for when someone enters or leaves nor can people speak without first being given permissions. So there’s no worry of having your session bombed or people coming into the room by accident. Games will be hosted on the VTT environment of the GM/Keeper’s choice and is listed on the game description as well as on the discord voice channel it will be in. Convention attendance is not required to participate in virtual gaming but a Table Top Events badge is required to register for all games. As a virtual participant you will have to provide your own hardware whether you are physically attending the convention or not.

Game Submissions continue to arrive. If you are thinking about running a quick game of Call of Cthulhu or want to teach people how to play Cthulhu Munchkin or Arkham Horror, feel free to submit your game suggestion at Table Top Events https://tabletop.events/conventions/necronomicon-providence-gaming-2022 and we will be able to put you on the Gaming Schedule. Any GM or Keeper that runs 12 or more hours worth of gaming content receives a complimentary pass to the convention.

There’s a lot more in the works but I can’t tell you yet or Rob said he’d make me mad… or was it I’d make him mad? Anyway! Looking forward to seeing you all in August! Ia Ia!
