NecronomiCon Providence 2013 would not be possible without the very hard work and support of MANY people and organizations. Here, we pay homage to as many of them as we can.
Thanks and Acknowledgements:
NecronomiCon-Providence wishes to thank all our guests and attendees, and notably our revered Special Guests – particularly S.T. Joshi and Robert M. Price – who gave the first enthusiastic nods of support to this endeavor. We thank Sandy Petersen and Stuart Gordon, and heartily acknowledge the fact that, more than any others, they can be arguably cited for nurturing the pop-culture flame of Lovecraft for so long when few others were doing so. It’s a near certainty that there would be no NecronomiCon, and little acknowledgement of Lovecraft at all, without these four people.
We thank our two special guest authors, Caitlin Kiernan and Laird Barron, who demonstrate so clearly the remarkable power and broad-ranging impact of Lovecraft’s enduring literary legacy. We send a heartfelt thanks to our dear Poet Laureate, Wilum Pugmire, and to Tom Lynch and Bryan Moore for their unwavering enthusiasm and support for this event since day one. We also thank all the Kickstarter backers (especially the Golden Keys and Silver Keys!) for giving us the all-important essential saltes early on.
A massive thanks to the Great Old Ones who put on the original NecronomiCons here in Providence and in Danvers – we humbly tread in your footsteps. And, a hail and farewell to Adam Niswander – we now know so well the struggle you went through in bringing MythosCon to life, and remain in awe – you are missed.
An equally massive thanks to everyone in Providence, both in municipal government and in the private and non-profit sector who’ve jumped up to help us out and gotten us through many Gates of the Silver Key, most notably: Paul Brooks and the Providence Tourism Council, Barnaby Evans and the WaterFire organization, Morgan Grefe and everyone at the Rhode Island Historical Society, Bert Crenca and Ric Royer at AS220, Alison Maxwell and all at the Athenaeum, everyone at the Providence and Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Providence Art Club, The Granoff Center, Julians Restaurant, Pam Baldwin and the staff of the Biltmore, the Hotel Providence, the Omni, and the Courtyard Marriot, Mike Ryan from Motif and Phil Eil from the Providence Phoenix – and, finally Jim Bennett, Lynne McCormack, and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, for understanding and being so receptive to the very same dreams.
Lastly, the director would personally like to thank the remarkable crew of friends and loved-ones (particularly his wife, Carmen!) who’ve worked so hard to make this all actually go from just a mad dream to an even more mad reality… and an eternal thanks to Nick Blinko for being the catalyst for it all twenty five years ago.
