Ars Necronomica 2026

A Call into the Abyss
The Ars Necronomica art exhibition, August 7-29, 2026

NecronomiCon Providence and the Lovecraft Arts & Science Council are pleased to present Ars Necronomica: A Call into the Abyss, an invited and juried group exhibition at AS220’s Aborn Gallery (95 Empire Street, Providence, RI 02903).

This seventh incarnation of the Ars Necronomica exhibit features a small, select collection of creative talent, combining the works of both invited artists and artists from within the NecronomiCon team and family – as well as a modest selection of submitted juried pieces. This exhibition expands upon the already fantastical works of previous years, and further helps to define the Weird as an artform of remarkably imaginative visual power. We hope you find inspiration as you enter and explore our carefully assembled exhibit, to emerge changed and dazzled, and to see anew the city and the cosmos that wheel above us all. While modest in scope, we expect this show to be as powerful and rewarding as all previous years.

See details below for how to submit your work for consideration – please do so by July 5 2026

Example pieces from our 2024 exhibition:

Wendigo, by Amelia Leonardis
The Silver Key, by Robert Knox
Pickman’s Model, by Max Martelli
Stain, Reiko Murakami

The Ars Necronomica exhibition is accepting submissions for its 2026 show.

Space is extremely limited, but we’re happy to consider any pieces which help to present the visual weird in all its dark glory. Please send photos of the work you would like considered along with the information listed below. We are open to almost any medium but work must be gallery ready. Important, we will not accept or even consider any work that is A.I. derived or that we consider to be racist, or bigoted in any way, shape, or form.

Our NO EXCEPTIONS RULE.
We support real human weirdness and imagination.

SUBMISSION REQUEST – With your photographs please include:
Artist name
Website for any online portfolio
Title of work
Medium
Size of work (size framed as well if already framed)
If you have a C.V. please include it but that is not required.

What we expect from artist we work with:

  1. Art work should arrive framed or prepared for display in a show ready manner. There are framers in Providence we can recommend if you need to get your work framed. We may be able to assist you in picking up or dropping off art work at the framers. Artist will be responsible for all framing costs. If art work arrives in a manner we don’t consider gallery ready we reserve the right to not show it.
  2. Artwork must be properly packaged and prepared for shipping. We can not and will not handle claims with delivery providers so please take care to send art work in an appropriate manner. We recommend prepaid shipping and return labels for ease in returning art work but can work with artists to facilitate getting unsold art work returned to them. If you are unsure how that works please ask your local shipping representative. We work with USPS, UPS, FedEX and DHL. We do not pay for shipping, sorry folks.
  3. Artwork must be submitted no later than July 5th. If selected, we will need artwork, ready for display, but the end of July so please be prepared to send artwork in a timely manner.

For more information, and in order to submit your piece for consideration, please email art@necronomicon-providence.com

We look forward to working with you!
